**Obama Presses Syria Strike at G20 Summit**
U.S. President Barack Obama will press world leaders at the Group of 20 summit in Russia for backing of a possible U.S. strike on Syria.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced plans to add Syria to the agenda shortly after summit participants arrived Thursday in St. Petersburg.
In an opening session, Mr. Putin said some leaders had asked him to set aside time to discuss "very acute topics of international politics," in particular Syria. He said talks could take place during Thursday's working dinner.
The Syrian crisis is not on the official agenda for the two-day global economic summit, but Mr. Obama and other leaders have been discussing the issue on the sidelines.
The president is seeking broader support, both at home and abroad, for military strikes against Syria's government for allegedly using chemical weapons on its civilians.
**美国熊猫幼崽是雌性**
美国史密森学会官员说，美国首都华盛顿动物园里的两周大的大熊猫幼崽是雌性。而该学会同时披露这个幼崽的父亲是动物园熊猫添添。
幼崽的母亲美香是通过人工授精的方式，接受添添及美国圣地亚哥动物园大熊猫高高的精液而受孕。园方通过收集DNA的样本确定了幼崽的父亲。
动物园管理员表示，大熊猫幼崽和她的母亲都很健康，幼崽开始在眼睛、耳朵周围和背上长出有深色印记的特征。
中国拥有华盛顿动物园里的稀有熊猫。这支幼崽预计在华盛顿动物园里待大约4年的时间，之后很可能被送回中国。
美香另一只存活下来的的幼崽名叫泰山是在2005年出生的，并在2010年被送回中国。
濒临绝种的熊猫以其难以繁衍和生育幼崽而著名。
** US Panda Cub is Female**
Smithsonian Institution officials say the two-week-old giant panda cub at its National Zoo in Washington is a female. They also revealed the cub's father is National Zoo panda Tian Tian.
The panda mother, Mei Xiang, was artificially inseminated with sperm from Tian Tian and from a San Diego Zoo panda named Gao Gao. A DNA sample was collected to determine the cub's father.
Zookeepers say the mother and cub are healthy, and the cub is starting to develop the distinctive dark markings in her fur around the eyes, ears and back.
China owns the rare pandas at the National Zoo. The cub is expected to stay at the zoo for about four years and will most likely be sent to China.
Mei Xiang's other surviving cub, a male named Tai Shan, was born in 2005 and sent to China in 2010.
The endangered pandas are well known for their difficulty in breeding and producing cubs.
